Cruise control and more power from 4.8 Auto

Post by Wheels »

I saw an article on the Aussie Patrol forum. Very interesting read. This weekend I will do the Power Valve thing.
Here is the link.

No differnce to fuel consumption but much more torque off the line. I have a heavy foot so maybe someone else will see an improvement
My driveway is quite steep and I always had to 'give' it a little to reverse out and now I can just idle out. I think it only fools the computer as in standard form it keeps the torque low off the line to make it easier to pull away on very slippery surfaces like ice without spinning. According to me the Patrol feels much more alive after the conversion.
The cruise control mod is nice when in hilly areas or when towing with an auto as you can select a lower gear for the terrain without loosing your cruise settings. (Un-modified the cruise control is disabled when manually changing a gear) I typically just move the lever over from auto to manual 4 to stop it hunting for a gear.
I have not experienced any negatives
