Tyre Blow

Hi everyone

So I put on four new khumo AT52 tyres last week, had some older muds on and the noise was driving me crazy. Took a drive to Tulbagh on Friday, coming down the hill I hear a loud hissing sound, nowhere to stop immediately, had some serious trucks behind me so had to drive about 1km to find a safe spot to stop. Destroyed the tyre, got a cheapie replacement in Tulbag and the guy at the tyre place told me it was due to incorrect fitment, see pic. Do you guys agree and do you think I should go back to the original shop and ask for a replacement tyre at their cost?

Yes., blow out on a brand new tyre... something is not right.

I don't know what that is.

Certainly I feel you are due a refund or replacement, because that damage can't happen on a rim.

However I fail to see how that could be caused during fitment either. Just can't see the typical fitting tools doing that.

Maybe the best course is to contact the suppliers and see if they can pinpoint the cause, and maybe have some ammunition of the fitment cause. But someone may argue that because you drove on it you caused the damage...

Thanks everyone for your input, was my fault, turns out like you said me continuing to drive caused the tyre to push up against the balancing weight on the rim, that’s the indentation in the pic I posted.
