Deep cycle battery
I need to replace the deep cycle battery. I am in Johannesburg. Can anyone recommend a good supplier with a good range?
Mine seems to have unusual dimensions: 260x170x200mm. It also has the usual terminals and next to them the threaded terminal with a wing nut - which is what all my stuff connects to.

Re: Deep cycle battery
Hi there Mr Rod, long time no see.
I get my batteries from Deltec. They have a vast range of batteries, but they are here in the deep south

Re: Deep cycle battery
What system are you charging with ? That will determine what works better for you?

Re: Deep cycle battery
Pretty small battery if those dimensions are correct, explain more, where is the battery fitted, how much space do you have, how do you charge it.. etc. Might be best to go LlifePO4, but I need that info to make recommendations

Re: Deep cycle battery
The battery sits in the engine bay. It charged by the standard Nissan alternator. There is no room to fit a battery with larger dimensions. I have had batteries in this place with this size since Ive had the vehicle, about 10 years now and they all worked fine. It seems now that its difficult to get a battery with those types of terminals and that fits. I dunno, maybe the market has changed?

Re: Deep cycle battery
Engine bay....that rules out LiFePO4. Search for Optima batteries, very very good, smaller in footprint size than others, can be to tall. Expensive...... Go for Yellow or Blue top, not Red top

Re: Deep cycle battery
In engine bay is not a good idea especially manifold side.ave battery doesn't want to see Temps above 65 degrees. It kills it in no time

Re: Deep cycle battery
Thanks for all the feedback guys. I've got space behind the rear seat for a 2nd deepcycle. I'll see if I can just use that one, might need a few things changed.
