The original starters and alternators (Mitubishi especially) are getting difficult and expensive to get hold of or repaired properly.
It used to be my trade and I have a test bench , the knowledge and a supply chain for parts to get them back to original condition.
Some of the parts (like diode plates) are not exactly the same and needs some minor mods. It is thus not a new part fitter type repair.
I do not do this as a mainstream activity , but more as a hobby. I know that Anthony and Tinus also has some service exchange units. I am sure Dawid also has , but they are getting scarce.
If you bought a cheap replacement starter or alternator for any of the patrol models , I will take the old units off your hands or see if they are repairable and return to you at a fair market charge. It will also not be an overnight repair as I will strip , get spares and repair when time allows.

Re: Old original starters and alternators
Mr Boegman - that is awesome. I think I've got three dodgy starters and one dodgy alternator that are lying in my garage at the moment... I'd like to get them reconditioned at some point. The alternator works, but the bearings are very definitely on the way out...
The one dodgy starter has a bolt (the long ones - which keep the thing together) broken off in the base. Not sure if it is repairable.
I'll be in touch via WhatsApp when I have a chance.

Demmit Christo, tour timing sucks!
I threw mine away because it was impossible to get a spare rectifier/regulator (apparently a single unit for the diesel alternators)...

Ek sal ook hou van 'n spaar starter, of selfs net 'n spaar solenoid...
