I have 285/75/16'S and they work very well. I also ahve a 90mm lift and now have more than enough articulation. Would suggest you stay with the 33's , and the main reason for this is the low range crawl speed. It increases significantly and when doing the trail I now have to brake a little more often than when I had the 265/75/16's.
Also when you look at the movement of the tyre in the arch, bigger tyres at full articulation will start removing the flares and the mud flaps.

I took your advise and opted for 285/70/17. I looked at BFG and Maxxis, both mud terain tyres. Maxxis is going for R2500/tyre and BFG for R3500/tyre. Seeing that I need five tyres, I am taking the Maxxis route - R5000 saving means a new roofrack or something else? My old tyres will be up for sale, 4 with only 28000km on and one brand new spare. It is Bridgestone Duelers HT, 275/65/17 - still lots of kms left on it and no damages - what should I ask per tyre or the set?
Sorry, I have just relaised that you drive a GQ.
The 33" does fit into the GQ wheel arch, but only just. With reference to Grant's GQ, it is the biggest you can go on tyres without significantly more suspension lift or modifying your arches.
On standard patrol 15” rims, would you need to fit wheel spacers or is the offset on the standard rims sufficient to prevent rubbing on inside of wheel arch?
(Volgens vorige eienaar).
So ek is nie seker of die tweede stel n beter kwalityd as die eerstes is nie....

I see my suspension (tjm gold) is suppose to be 50m lift.
So then 33x12.5r15 would fit comfortably?
(Would prefer 33x10.5r15 not much options available though).
Still got the invoice for the suspension which was installed 40 something k kms ago...googled the part numbers....
