Definitely bigger than OEM sump, will get exact oil capacity and post it here

Just a small update, the work that is now being done is something you wont really see progress on, but she is progressing! If all goes well, then we might get the first startup by the end of the week. The attention to detail by the guys at Chris Mod is really next level and they take great pride in their work. The exhaust is done, work being done now is the powersteering hoses, aircon followed by the last bit of service parts that need to be done since Toyota didnt have stock. The big work that can make or break any conversion is soon to start and that is the electronics side. The guys at Chris Mod have done the biggest part of the job to get the engine prepped and fitted, but its the small things that matter too to ensure the conversion works as it should. The engine has been moved a bit forward and propshaft lengths are getting adjusted too. The goal is to make everything work as if it came out of the factory with this setup.

Something we should NEVER skimp on is the cooling system. Ive heard plenty shops making statements like "All fans are the same" and then stuff a cheap Midas fan in the conversion. Months later the customer decides to tow something and that engine overheats or going on an offroad trail and the engine heat is sky high. Now before I got the Patrol, there is the sad story of my old landy that I wanted to put this exact Lexus engine in and I spent a LOT of time doing research on what I wanted in the vehicle to ensure everything is working better than it should. After a lot of research I found that Davies Craig was quite an exceptional brand that had a very good reputation and these fans put out a whopping 2120 CFM each. Electric fans are great This sounds all nice and well, but with these fans, we still need to make a proper shroud to ensure the fans work as efficient as possible. We will be doing a dual 16" fan setup with a relay for each fan to ensure it starts at the correct temperatures. A little bit of a custom shroud built in to ensure we suck as much as possible air throught the radiator

* Water crossings you want to switch off. Constant highway speed you may want to switch off. Etc.

If it worries you, you can fit a red and green LED to remind you of the status

Its been a while since my last update. Who knew Covid can cause such a hassle on parts! So while we waited for the black silicone hoses, Braam had a blue spare hose that fitted on the radiator so that we could drive it to get the exhaust done and just popped a cone filter on since we were also waiting for the 45 degree bend. With Spike making a suggestion about a override switch, it got me thinking. How often do those fans kick in? Knowing fan 1 kicks in at 80 degrees and switches off at 75 degrees and fan 2 being set at 5 degrees higher. Braam installed a small pilots light to show when the fan is on and off. My ultimate goal is to install an android radio with an OBD connection to show real time data and then I can have a more detailed overview of how the motor reacts during offroading or under load.

So from my last update we have completed the exhaust system, propshaft lengths have been adapted and the throttle pedal has been installed. All that is now remaining is getting the last bit of sensors connected to the dash such as the rev counter and then get the aircon gassed and operating. It wont be long until I get her back and then we can start adding the new toys and take her out for some offroading to see how she behaves! Ive added a link on how she sounds.

The conversion is finely coming to an end and I am quite pleased with the work. The small things are taking a bit long since some things need to be fabricated and testes to ensure everything works great. The ECU box still needs to be sorted and the rev gauge, but everything else is now sorted. I really like this OEM look and everything being used such as the air filter, Im definitely not a fan of a cone filter. Last stretch, then she's coming home and I get to start adding her new toys!
