Re: My GU 4.2 Turbo Diesel

Re: My GU 4.2 Turbo Diesel
Ok Gents, finally I have done the dyno runs to see what the benefit is of installing the inline pump.
As mentioned earlier, the Facet pump is not up to the task to deliver fuel in a positive manner........ pun intended
The end product is a John Deere 90 series external pump which is pressure regulated just before the injection pump. I must say that the power delivery is very smooth and you can actually feel the power being better. Driveability is better and strangely enough, the engine is much more "quieter" if I dare to use that term for a TD42.
So here is the dyno graph after the inline pump was installed. Please note, the boost pressure and injection pump setup was left unchanged.
Stay tuned as I have done something else as well that helped the old man go a bit better.

Re: My GU 4.2 Turbo Diesel
Now here is where it got excited.
I imported a new turbo which got some very good reviews. It was not cheap but this test proved the point that some turbo's are more expensive for a reason.
I already had a very good Mitsubishi TD05 16G and replaced it with a 18G.
Delivering 1.4 bar of boost with a good turbo is not quite the same as delivering 1.4 bar of boost with a great turbo.
This dyno run I did in VERY hot conditions vs the previous run in very cool weather, so the gains will be more on a cooler day like the initial dyno run.
Once again, everything was left untouched except the turbo that was changed. Boost pressure was set to 1.4 bar just as before.
End Result is 164,7kw & 605.1Nm
That's a massive 16% gain in peak power just by upgrading the turbo!

Dankie Leon
Ek glo hy sal daai omgewing bly

Re: My GU 4.2 Turbo Diesel
Ha ha that would have been epic!
Actually its a TD05 made by Arashi. Its not that well known, but it sure works fine. There are actually so much nice turbo's out there today but its not cheap at all
