Heat wave...

Post by mvcoller »

We are all crying about the current heat wave in the country and everybody is talking about global warming playing a role in the new-found heat wave across SA

BUT LOOK AT THIS! The highest temperature ever recorded in South Africa was at Dunbrody (Sundays River Valley in Eastern Cape) measuring 50.0 ºC on 3 November 1918.

It might be quite baffling to learn that the coldest temperature ever recorded in this country was also in the Eastern Cape, just north of Queenstown.

On 23 August 2013, the mother of all big freezes gripped the rural region by the scruff of its neck. According to multiple sources, the temperature dropped to -20.1C. An unfathomably cold reading, but one that also wrote the village of Buffelsfontein into the history books.
