Replacing lights with HID
Hi Guys,
My Patrol's lights are not great and I was thinking of replacing them with HID or LEDs.
There are so many out there (lots of Chinese) can someone help with sound advice please.
Thanks Rob

Hi Rob
there have been a few similar queries, comments and suggestions in the past - some links below. In summary the OEM vs LED vs HID debate rages on. My own experience with HIDs was dismal, maybe because it was early technology (7-8 years ago). As per Tinus recommendation, I went the LED light-bar route and there are some spectacular options out there.

Re: Replacing lights with HID
The problem with just putting in LED or HID lights is that the headlight beam changes and the dipped beam no longer works. So you end up with ricer lights that blind everyone dipped or not. Prepare to have truck drivers retaliating with the small supernovas they fit to the front of their trucks, etc. You will be labeled as a general ucnt as well.
To go the HID route you need to get the full projector conversions. They are the things that look like glass balls in the front of modern headlights. That is the only way to fit HID lights. Beware of cheap china conversions too. 4x4s tend to get a few more Km on corrugations than platcars and the cheap china crap doesn't last.

Re: Replacing lights with HID

Hi guys
Check out these guys https://www.4xlight.com
They offer a LED conversion and STEDI spotlights which are awesome. Definitely not the cheapy stuff. Based in Capetown if I'm not mistaken and they offer shipping.

Re: Replacing lights with HID
I fitted some led globe's and had Zone Off-road set them for me with their headlight setting machine thingy. Makes a massive difference, plus doesn't blind the guy's in front of me.

Hi John. I'm not 100% sure but I think they are speaker globe's.
