It seems like a fair price. I was quoted R600 per rim last week.

@ Jules, wow, are those really the original Nissan GQ steels, very cool. Similar to the smith wheels / pro whites, but stronger i bet?

@ Sias , yes, im always looking for steel wheels, i seem to bugger mine pretty quickly. Im looking for 7j (or jj) normal offset ( -0 offset). Im having problems getting mine true, but it appears its also the BFG that are causing kak. So im sceptical to go to pro-whites or smith wheels again.....

If either of you chaps are considering selling let me know ahead of time. Thanks.

Russ, the original Nissan GQ steel wheels are the worst parts of the whole car.

It's the only part I know of on the GQ that was the subject of a recall unlimited in terms of age or mileage. They are IMO considerably weaker than either the Smith's/Pro Whites or the steel rim on the Y61/GU.

On my car, three of the five were cracked. the previous owner had fitted tubes to "mask"the problem, the result was that I had a blowout on the frweeway when the crack extended to such an extent that there was a 10mm gap between the two halves, and the tube burst. Fortunately it was on a rear wheel.

I have heard froam a couple of people that 285/75 R16 causes the auto-box to "hunt" at freeway speeds, but it is certainly better for most off-roading.

They should fit fine on your standard rims (if they are 16").

Mine is a manual!!4.5

There's lots of discussion about MTs and lifting on this forum. Also see the "WegRy" or "Go" Magazines of November 2011.

Also contact G-Man in Noordhoek. He would most certainly be able to give you excellent advice.
