What tyres to buy
Howzit everyone.
So my hankook dynapro RF10 A/t tyres are on their last little bit of thread, whats a decent set of A/t tyres to get these days.
Ive been through khumos, bridgestones, maxxis, and coopers and 2 sets of hankooks.
ps. not a big fan of BF goodrich.
Im currently looking at the dunlop at5 a/t, or just getting another set of hankooks.
i drive about 30% dirt and offroad and the rest black top.

I've been researching tires for a few months now. Im currently running BFG A/T, (on the vehicle when I bought it) they starting to chunch and havnt done much dirt road and only a few trails. So won't go BFG again. Looking to change.
I want an A/T because i do alot of tar but also a few trails. Ive been looking at the Mickey Thompson ATZ3 as its spec'ed as a hybrid A/T. With some mud capabilities. The overall tire specs looks good. They are little more pricey than some of the other brands but I like the tread pattern.
I'm save up for a set so will probably only fit them early 2021

Re: What tyres to buy
Tinus, are you still able to get Power Rovers, or powertrac's. I'm suddenly having issues finding 35's for the Sani. The guys are all pushing me to Mickey Thompson or Razors, at silly prices.

Re: What tyres to buy
I had the same problem finding 285/70 x 17 (33s) MTR, 3 ply sidewall tyres. Nobody had stock of any of the well known brands, and even then, list prices were mad....
Then a guy in Pta phoned me back, all that was available countrywide in my size were some Sailun Terramax MTRs in Bloem at R2500 each. I needed 2 and at that price, I could get two at the same price of one of most of the others.
I laughed it off, I had never heard of Sailuns. I had written off one of my 5 Bighorns, needed to go away with the Patrol, but not without a spare. One of the other 4 was near its end, so I needed two 285/70 x 17 MTRs.
I came across this https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source= ... o9ECKHfDFG and took the plunge and ordered the 2 tyres, not that I had much of an option.
It was not a review of thr MTR, but is seems a new tyre with not too many reviews. At least there were no bad reviews of Sailuns.
I drove to Dinokeng and back, only on tar, so I cannot judge their performance yet...

Re: What tyres to buy
Good prices SAILUN TYRES at Errols. With a few donations I could settle for a set of 33s at that price. Any 35 is double or triple the price.
Sorry for the crappy pictures, I just snapped them with the phone camera off the PC screen. ] Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

Re: What tyres to buy
WOW!!
R1800 for a 33x12.5" x 15 is at a giveaway price!
But I see it is a 6pr tyre. That would indicate a 2 ply sidewall. 3 ply sidewalls only normally come with a 10pr tyre.
Who here knows what 6pr, 8pr or 10pr really means?

Re: What tyres to buy
In my scratching on the net last night I did see it had a 3 ply sidewall.
I just need the tyres to get the Sani down to CT. Then it becomes a bush car with sand and brush as it's main diet with a monthly tar road trip of 60km. Sand is thick and deep sea sand, hence me pushing for a 35 that I can drop to 0.5bar for best flotation.
According to Emil, the tyres on the Sani at the moment have a date stamp that make them 12 years old, and they are cracking all over. Without a spare, I can't take the chance to push it through another1300km trip.
