Re: Olive the 4,5 GRX
OK...............
Olive is now almost a mobile Boom Box , she's getting a sound system.
The Nakamichi stuff looks really well built, Head Unit is simplistic, nice big volume knob etc etc. Speakers look nice, well built. Sub looks VERY solid, with some metal / alu?? body, so this all looks REALLY nice and well built.
If its sounds half of what it looks like I'm happy.
So far, I really must say, GREAT value for money.

Re: Olive the 4,5 GRX
The 4 Speakers (6.5') fitted perfectly in the original enclosures, and I am VERY happy to report that the tweeters also fitted perfectly in the original enclosures on the door pillars.
Happy Days.
Happy Days.

Re: Olive the 4,5 GRX
Was nice to see Olive is as clean on the inside as she is outside.......no dust behind the dash, nothing
Plastic inside the door panels also still like new.

Re: Olive the 4,5 GRX
Had a bit of a headache with the sub, had NO idea where to put it for best effect, but even more importantly, it must be neat, hidden, without any badges and prentjies sticking out.
Only place I feel really comfy with is under the passenger seat.
Seat will have to be taken out tomorrow, and the sub secured.
I first thought this would be OK.............. see pic

Re: Olive the 4,5 GRX
But decided against it, turned the sub around, so that all wiring etc etc will be completely hidden under the seat, under the carpet, and straight to the head unit - shortest way possible.
Pics are of the rear of the passenger seat, the front where the plugs etc etc are now, and just some piccies to get some "perspective" - that sub is completely out of sight now.
Lekker.

Re: Olive the 4,5 GRX
Then I over-analyzed where to put this small thingie - a separate volume control for the sub, that (unfortunately) came with the system. I'm not one for knoppies and gadgets in a car, so this thingie stressed me out big time.

Re: Olive the 4,5 GRX
..........and then , in a very rare moment of temporary practicality/intelligence/sober thoughts, I got the right place........the ashtray.
I'm dishing outside, anyways
Nice, out of sight, and no cabling visible.
Should be finished by early tomorrow.
We're off to Potch on Saturday , my daughter at NWU has her 21st there with some pals, and we're towing a trailer with with the part goodies inside.
Told The Blonde we will just HAVE to go with Olive:
1) My platkar doesnt have a towbar,
2) Her platkar has one, but the trailer is WAY too heavy for that Ecosport.........( an Ecosport, and a 6 foot Ventertjie........... ).
She gave me a somewhat dry, somewhat sweet and VERY knowing look, and agreed with me full heartedly ........ Olive it is
