Namibia in May
Hi everyone Just wondered if anyone is planning to be in Namibia in the last two weeks in May. I will be travelling solo and am hoping to explore a little more than I did on my last two trips. I would like to head up north to try and reach the Kunene but not sure if this is advisable alone. If anyon...

Re: Turbo whine - I think?
Thanks for your replies everyone and for being so quick with them. I will certainly check out the possibility of a leak at the manifold. Not long before this started I had removed the EGR and fitted a blanking plate tapped to take the EGT thermocouple for a Madman unit, so will check that out too. P...

Turbo whine - I think?
For a few months now my 2.8 GU has been whining when power is applied. The noise starts at around 2000 rpm and gets progressively louder as speed increases, but only with the accelerator depressed. The moment I ease up on the power the noise stops. Have had the turbo hoses off and no sign of leaks o...

Re: solo trip next year
Thanks for your fast and helpful replies everyone. Josh - your advice about Swakop understood. It was awareness of this growing problem that made me post as I have stayed in Swakop twice before with no problems at all. I don't plan to stay there on this trip. The largest place I will stop will proba...

solo trip next year
Hello to everyone. I'd be grateful for some advice if anyone can offer it. I am planning another visit to Namibia (last one was solo, down to Fish river, the Orange river, Luderitz and so on.) That was four years ago. This trip will also be solo, taking in the garden route (D707) and then heading no...

Re: Plastic wheel arch trims - aaaargh!
Thanks Kasigo that is really useful. Sourcing this sort of stuff here always seems harder than it is in SA,

Re: Plastic wheel arch trims - aaaargh!
Hi Grant Thanks for that. I may well follow you with the replacement rubber arches if this doesn't work. Those thin rubberised filler strips never seem very secure to me and the whole plastic trim assembly never seems as tight as it does on Cruisers or Pajeros. I want to have them off though because...

Re: Plastic wheel arch trims - aaaargh!
The price, it being Nissan, is eye-watering. I had to order a full set of clips as they are quite fragile and it is easy to break even the secure ones getting the trims off. To do all four wheel arches the clips will cost around 1400 rand in total. That's why I tried breaker's yards but with no Patr...

Re: Plastic wheel arch trims - aaaargh!
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded with help and ideas. My local Nissan parts manager has been really helpful and finally managed to track these parts down and they should arrive in a couple of weeks. My apologies to all for this late post but family illness has meant I have been ...
