Cant comment on the Maxxis but i ran the 235's in the beginning, then switched to 285.75.16 BFG KM2's and transformed the Patrol. Got over 100 000km out of the set with not one puncture and fuel consumption only changed by 0.3 km/l over the 4 years data.

I then switched back to BFG 235.85.16 and the patrol felt completely different on both tar and off road. I found the characteristics didnt suit me at all in most cases and i sold them after 15 000km and went back to the 285's.... it was like i had met an old friend. Amazing.

I was very close on more than 2 occassions of tyre swapping to switch to the 255x85x16 BFG KM2 but much like the Maxxis no one can guaranty replacements when/if needed, which doesnt sit well with me at all. hence my decision to forget that route.

i reckon a 265x75x16 would also suit the patrol very pickup very well and would be a common easily replaced size should it be required.

I got the following quote:

Nankang (Free delivery) N889 MT – R2595
Yokohama (Free delivery) Geolander G001C MT – R2715

Does anyone have experience with the nankang n889 mt's?
If you had to choose between yokohama & nankang? Or is it better to rather spend a bit more and get kumho, bfg, etc?

Original Nissan Patrol pickup rims are: 16" 6.5j

I operate my 285x75x16 BFG KM2 on there for 5 years now and never had any issues . Rims are as strong if not stronger than the LC 80 series rims. Extremely heavy and rigid.

I personally would opt for 3 ply side walls at at this hight it offers less roll when cornering and when deflated. Not to mention incredible resilience when the road gets tuff,...

Well done on the purchase mate. Is that the TD42ti model we spoke about?
