Route advice?
I am planning an eight day trip during the March/April school holiday. I would like to travel on the route less travelled, gravel roads and hidden passes, maybe even some 4x4 routes. We will start in Brackenfell and travel along the coast as much as possible, with Knysna as a waypoint. From there we will go over the Prins Alfred pass to Uniondale. I would then like to come back to Brackenfell through the Klein Karoo. Any advice with regards to the route, stay-overs and actvities along the way will be very welcome.

Re: Route advice?
Hi Aleric
Between Knysna and Uniondale there are a tonne of trails you can choose from to make your life interestig and memorable.
I would suggest you go to the Southern Cape section of the Community Forum, make contact with Dave Faddel from Honeybee tours in George (also a Patrol driver). He has graded many routes in the Southern Cape including old Voortekker trails. (http://www.honeybeeouteniqua.com)
As far as 4x4'ing goes, this is my favourite part of the country.

Re: Route advice?
Hi Aleric
We have just be down in the eastern cape and did the Swartberg pass from Oudshoorn to Prince Albert BUT at the top as
you go down the other side there is a turn off to DIE HEL what a road and gravel passes stay a night in the valley it is worth it as
you have to exit the same way ,
The road was built in 1962 with a bulldozer and 8 labourers
Incidentally my father went there in 1937 by donkey he turned 100 on the 22nd January
It is well worth it
