Hey Mike - see this thread: http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.ph ... 2386&hilit the snorkel was discussed there [almost 'in length'] I have had those snorkels 'in hand' and had opportunity to 'eye' them - I will buy one - today [already have] and there is one to go on LOBO as soon as Gerrie makes the time ..

I have seen many threads on the Landcruiser forum where people have been warned off using them. Apparently the plastic is not up to scratch and becomes brittle very quickly in the african heat.

also, they spoke about the connections at the turns and mentioned that they too did not seal as well as the Safari / Airtec snorkels for example.

But worst of all, and Kagiso just check this out before you fit, On the Nissan Patrol Auzzi Site (our big brother website) it was illustrated that not all of them line up on the body correctly too, so even after using the template from the kit to place the hole, once the snorkel lower end is inserted into the hole the main part does not follow the shape of the body, leaving a fairly big gap between body and snorkel.

Now, im not saying they will all be like this, there is a very good chance it is a few bad apples in a big box, but just check twice before you cut....

Mike,

Would suggest you stay with the OEM systems. Visit the Safari web site. They have a detailed test report. Also fitment of the aftermarket system is poor. :mytwocents: :mytwocents: :mytwocents:

There are two of these aftermarket snorkels on sale here in SA - the one is brought in by a "Bruce" [one I got for Boezman - and wich did 'loose it's head' [the top unit - in Kaokoland - and the body did crack - Now THAT item is SHIT [shot & sweet abslute TRIPE - stay away .. The units that Pieter brings in are wayyyyyyyyyy above and ahead of the 'Bruce" akkies.

So - if you want to try those that Pieter brings in - it's worth the try -- that other make - the fibre glass tube .. steer clear.

Thanks Guys,

Looks like the OEM is the way to go - too many possible negatives with the cheapie.
