Ian, this is yet another weird mod.

The diff lock pipes were originally all chassis-mounted steel hoses, with flexible sections at the ends.

Also, there should be two vacuum hoses to the locker. One to lock and one to un-lock...
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Thanks Peter.

I must mention, I never traced it. I assumed it was the diff-lock ? It was the only thing that made sense, as I can see no reason for some pipe along the door sill.

I shall remove everything and check again as well as post here. I am now very curious as to why it is there.... It makes no sense....

Not on the Y60, so I wouldn't think they went backwards on the Y61.

Ian, could it be the rear windscreen's washer (water) line?

Peter,

Bingo.

I've got a very strong feeling that this is probably it - it also looks the same as the pipes in the front. This will be easy to ascertain, so I'll check and let you know.

I feel like an idiot. Plenty other pipes it could be...

Ian, these vehicles are simple, and yet incredibly complicated aren't they?

All sorts of pipes and wires running all over the place...
