Y61 Front coils

Post by Unkredible »

Hi All,
So after converting my 2005 ZD30 to a TD42, my front end seems to be sagging a bit with the extra weight.
Does anyone who has done a lift / upgraded their suspension by any chance have a set of front coils springs lying around from a 4.8?
Happy to pay a reasonable price.
I would like to try a standard set before I go on the upgrade / lift journey...
Many Thanks,
Bruce

Tinus,
Motor is brilliant! Michael did a fantastic job!
I can't believe I waited this long.... Not sure how long they tyres are going to last :-)
I still need to do one last electrical bit- get the rev counter working properly...
Will do a post about it soon...
Let me know how much you want for the springs?
Thanks
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

I have 2 sets from the GU Y61 which were originally in the TB45 and the TD42 which went OME some long years ago.
If they fit (which I guess they do) you are welcome to get them for free.
They are sitting in my garage in Betty's Bay (Western Cape)

Easier and cheaper just to go to General Spring in Germiston (Driehoek) and get them to make up coils for you. They will need to use thicker wire.

They did a set for the rear of my Terrano (thicker and a 75mm lift), a full set for my GQ (75mm just a 75 mm lift) and a 60mm lift and thicker wire for my current Y61 Patrol.

Once the job is done and you are not happy, you can go back and they will change it for you as many times as it takes to make you happy. The did my Terrano 3 times, the last time a year later! That was the first time i had towed my fully laden off-road trailer since they upgraded the springs.

The full upgrade on my Y61 cost R3500.

You take your vehicle in at 08h00 in the morning and it is ready by about 15h00 the same day.
