Front Runner Water Tank behind Rear Seats - GU

Post by Clem »

Hi guys, anyone ever put one of these behind the back seat of a Patrol: https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/e ... -flat.html? I measured up and I think I have enough space between my back seats and the African Outback drawer system as well as the wheel arches to accommodate it.

If one had one of these and then the water bladder as per the other thread (http://patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.php?f= ... 180#p95180), that'd be 80 litres odd, which is enough for a few days if used sparingly.

Clem,

I have a Pioneer Plastics tank in my Patrol, exactly where you are talking about. It is the type that is wider at the bottom than at the top, to allow for the angle of the backrest of the rear seat. It is a 60lt tank.

I add another 60lt tank on my roof rack when going into places where there is no water.

Many thanks Malcolm and Fanus. Malcolm, I wonder if they still make your tank? I don't see a wedge shaped 60l unit on their site but will try to find out directly from them.

It is a 50lt tank designed in such a way that it will fit behind the middle row seats and allow for the seat to recline. I have had one in my Patrol for six years now. It works well. Never had a problem. Makro and Outdoor Warehouse sells them.

Thank you Jorrie. I will go measure it all up again with a view to the angled 50 litre option!

Many, many thanks for the picture Jorrie. I can see from the picture that that tank won't fit in my car. My drawer system comes further forward and leaves a smaller gap between it and the back of the seats. See the picture below - it's quite narrow, especially towards the top. I did measure up and based on that it looks like the Front Runner 40l unit will fit although pretty much only just. I guess I will have to take a drive to Front Runner and test fit a unit quickly there. 40L is darem nie heeltemal niks nie but I would be very happy if I was able to add another 40L in a water bladder on the left side of the vehicle as per the other thread.
