Hi

maybe you should just confirm for how long (time + Km) you had them.

:rolling: ... Ja I know I did jag n bietjie ___ aan about it being Dunlops... but that was from personal experience more tan 20 years ago on platcar road tyres, but to be honest Dunlop has been around for donkeys years and I'm sure there tyres have improved with technology over the years, and I suppose like anything, if you want the ultimate tyre, there is a price tag attached, and for the purposes of what Peter wants, and within a certain budget, they will most probably serve all the conditions he will encounter with them. Will it have the grip of a Kumho in the mud, probably not, but he will still get through it. Will it handle like a Cooper in the sand, probably not, but he will get through.

I would LOVE to have another set of KL71's on my Patrol. For me they were incredible in mud, sand, and believe it or not on wet tar they were amazing, but they are not cheap, they increased my fuel consumption by at least 1L/100km, and were a bit noisy towards the end, but blow me down with a feather....they kicked ass !!.... Unfortunately they are out of my price range at the moment, so I may have to eat my words one day.... .... when I have to buy a set for the same reasons as Peter.

I'd say... Go for it, whats the worst that can happen?

Cedric

Looking at fanus first picture of when the dunlops was new. I cannot beleive they have any grip on tar or gravel at speed limit speeds. There is almost no contact with the tar in compareson to to the AT's next to it.
Being alive is a Blessing!!

Thanks guys.

Biggles, my car stands outside and my garage is chock 'n block with stuff. Nowhere to keep a set of wheels indoors.

Josh, remember that friction actually has little to do with contact area.

The reason is that, the less area is in contact, the higher the contact pressure. The two cancel each other out to all intents and purposes.

Where one does pick up issues is that the tread blocks move around. This is more pronounced on muddys decause the blocks are relatively small compared to their height. Road tyres have much shallower grooves.

Pieter,

Pryse is goed! Dink miskien aan ATRs pleks van MTRs?
