It's a pleasure; I got so busy with the driving that the posts stopped just before lunch. Article will be out only next year, but I will link it then.

A word of caution and my personal opinion:

There is a lot of negativity about the new model. However, we should be careful and avoid falling into the trap of the typical Hilux/Cruiser/etc - owner of pissing on everything that isn't Hilux/Cruiser/etc. This Patrol is a massive jump forward for Nissan and a shot across the bows for Toyota, Infinity, Lexus, Land Rover, Range Rover, Jeep and Mercedes Benz with a value offering that is impressive at a price that, with enough marketing support, will hurt the market share of the aforementioned brands. It is not a 4.8 upgrade and was never intended to be. It is the future of the Patrol name and offering that, in our market, has jumped from last place to the front in a single release. Believe me, I had a lot to say at breakfast yesterday and throughout the morning, but I am comfortable saying that I will buy one if I had to change my vehicle now. It is astonishing. Simply astonishing. Let's not be too quick to judge; that's the easiest thing to do and I made this mistake yesterday.

Have a great weekend guys.

Good point, and probably valid, but...

The people on this forum (by and large) love the Patrol for the values and characteristics of the Y60 and Y61 series.
This, as you say, is a very different car. It does not have the qualties we (or many of us at any rate) are looking for. I am sure it has many excellent qualities, but not the ones we are looking for.

In a way, I wish they had called it something else, a new name, and not a Patrol, and I wish it was not destined to "replace" the Patrol. Because it can't.

I started typing a comment earlier. I typed it up, and later I deleted it. Because it was very negative. Peter has summed it up very nicely.

I get your "be positive" stuff, and things like that. And I am sure the truck works well. But I am not interested.

The Y62, as far as I am concerned, is not, and will never be, a Patrol.

I do not want to be seen as criticizing the Y62. It is a fantastic car.
Some of us may have come across as we they do, when in actual fact we only express our disappointment that the days of solid axles and mechanical rather than electronic technology is fading.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon fans aslo had the same problem with their new model. It also got independent suspension infront.

Was not long after that the JK Experience guys already made a solid axle conversion. Maybe this new bad boy will also get one.
