1991 Nissan SWB TD42

Post by NamibiaPatrol »

I have a Nissan Short Wheel Base 4x4 witht he Silver top diesel motor that I might be selling.

The vehicle was bought from the Forum a while ago but since buying it I have done the following;

1. 76mm Stainless Freeflow and Branches done by TnT in Knights Germiston.
2. Full Old Man Emu suspension fitted including steering stabilizer, gerbox drop plates, Nitro Shocks, Coils, Coil pads etc.
3. Air Helper Springs with 4 way controller in each coil
4. ARB Front and Rear Difflocks
5. ARB Twin Head Compressor and Pump Kit
6. Custom Bullbar with 12500 winch
7. 265/75/16 BF Goodrige KM2 with aluminium mags
8. Snorkel

Graeme from the Forum checked it after I bought it, the vehicle has done maybe 10000km since. Price 200K

Vehicle is in Somerset West, Cape Town

I think I posted the fuel consumption previously but its on average 9.5 to 10 km/l for the Shorty.

I also have a 1995 Nissan Patrol SGL Petrol with same freeflow as mentioned above, Snorkel. also for sale. For 65K

This vehicle is still in Namibia but will be in Somerset West in December

Both Vehicles are registered in South Africa.

I appreciate the comments and feedback but no offense to some, the reasoning behind why some would say its too expensive might be due to all the extras. Go to the nearest LA Sport or Mega World and go get a quote on ARB Airlockers, Twin head compressors, Full Airhelper suspension with 4 wheel controller, Full Old Man Emu suspension, including castor correction and gearbox drop plates (not just a pair of shocks) etc. Then consider this is a TD4.2 and its in a shorty (not exactly like there are lots of these around), the power to weight ratio is a little different to the normal TD4.2. Its got disc brakes all round, massive winch, dual battery (also new Deltec batteries) This is possible the most capable little Patrol on this Forum and its great on fuel consumption compared to any Patrol or any other 4x4 with this capability, no turbo`s so its reliable, fun to drive, the massive custom exhaust and branches helps with that. I could blah blah on and on but it comes down to the following, if its too expensive for you its not for you. But take all into consideration the price is based on money spent not necessarily opinions. However for instance if you have front and rear ARB lockers fitted and you think it depreciated your Patrol`s value substantially I would welcome the opinion.

If anyone is interested in the car but without the nice bits like Airlockers, Compressor, Air Suspension, Winch etc. I can remove those by the installer (4x4 Mega World and have it fitted to my 4.8 GRX) then it will be a mostly standard Shorty with the Bullbar, Old Man Emu, Snorkel etc. but it would be a shame to do it. Maybe its best to keep it then, at least now I can answer my wife honestly when she asks if I at least tried to sell it.

Attached pictures of the 4.2SGL, I think I am the third owner. The car is currently in Outjo in Namibia, but I will bring it back on my next rotation.

Hi there
Quick question, as I am in the market for a shorty (really looking for the Y61) but when were all the mods done on your shorty because unfortunately the price for new items versus used over a period of time is considerably different.
Also, what price did you have in mind if none of these items were included because I am not interested in things like winches, etc for a town driving vehicle.
Thanks
Vanessa

In my view and having seen what cars have gone for, you can probably discount at least 50% of the value of aftermarket mods on a resale.
I did not make the rules on this, and the reasoning for it is not entirely logical, but the price is what the market is prepared to pay for it.

If I was to try and sell at the cost of everything I had spent on either Skilpad or Witblits, I will not be taken seriously.
Shortie, I might be able to get the money back I spent on it, but ironically, she has no mods (other than a madman water pressure monitor, and fancy Micky Thomson rims).
All the costs incurred were just to renovate.
