FLOOR INSULATION

Post by Tony »

Hi guys, i've got a mate out from Malawi who drives a Landy Defender :rolling: He has a huge problem with heat coming through into the cab from the exhaust and transmission areas and wants to know whether anyone knows of a supplier of some sort of insulation that he can lay on the floor, under the mats, to insulate against the heat.
Most of his family have, at some stage owned Patrols - all diesels, and all blown except his sister who is on about 450 000 km in her 4.2 diesel!!

You can also install a heat deflector between the silencer and the body.
I had this done on Witblits.
It is simply an aluminium plate riveted to the body, above the silencer.
It makes the world’s difference.

Thanks Alex, you're 100% correct, that would be the main culprit, although he seems to think it's coming in from all sides. My old Hardbody's exhaust ran along the passenger footwell and that entire side of the car used to get seriously hot.

I only seem to pick up heat above the silencer.
I will post a pick tomorrow.
