Blacksmith power hammer
I am busy setting up a blacksmith area in the corner of my workshop. If anybody know of a power hammer for sale please let me know.

Re: Blacksmith power hammer
Ja Michael, sometimes life gets in the way, things happen that we have no control over. I have not light up a forge since 2009. The situation is changing and I am setting up a small smithy shop again.
Forging hot steel does something in me that I cannot describe in words. You start with a mental picture, light a fire, slowly heat the steel. Then the rhythm of hammer blows. The world around you come to a standstill. It is only you, the fire, hammer, anvil and the tool you have in mind.
Then the finishing and the heat treatment, you have created an heirloom, a better tool than money can buy over any counter.
The real satisfaction comes when you use that tool you have created with old world methods.
To me it is magic, to some people foolishness. We all differ.
I often wonder where I will get the time to do everything that I am interested in in the time I have left in this world.
Come visit and we can play in the workshop.

Re: Blacksmith power hammer
I've watched the Forged in Fire series, as well as the other two on History channel for a long while now, and I can relate to what you want to do and why. It must be such an accomplishment to produce a working tool from nothing, something that you have pounded out with muscle power ( excluding the power hammer....hahahaha) and sweat.
Regards
Cedric

I watched the other day on FB "All guns" where a black smith made a knife out of a Harley Davidson conrod, was pretty impressive!!Iaan du Toit wrote:The real satisfaction comes when you use that tool you have created with old world methods.
