REVIVE THE CLUB 2017 / 2018

Post by Kagiso II »

Dear All

I for one am most guilty of neglecting Club Events and visiting the Forum.

This is a call up for all NISSAN Off Roader / 4x4 Owners to assemble for a Meeting to plan the Road forward for continuation of OUR Club.

Last meeting we had we had a rep from Nissan SA at the meeting. The poor guy was grilled for Nissan not being involved enough towards the club.

Let as pull together en MAKE this Club Great again [to quote Mr. President Trump :-) ]

With OR without NISSAN SA's participation. We will address that and many other common interests at the said meeting.
Not to create too much confusion, I offer two dates, upon which I will arrange a suitable venue, 'Lekker sentraal" comfortably central for GAUTENG ..
I will also duplicate this invite on the PATROL Forum, NAVARA Club on Face Book, Hard Body/NP300 Owners Group on Facebook as well as the Face Book Patrol Group.
If you know of other bodies / groups .. PLEASE let me know ?

Please indicate HERE or on the Face Book Group which of the 2 dates will suit you best. [The majority wins]
OR What sapp me on 0840848755
11 November
18 November

TIME will be 15:00 PM till 16:30 after which we will likely have a BRAAI

I'm out for the 11th of November. No way I can shift things around, as tickets are booked and paid etc. So I'm only available on the 18th.

There are a couple of things in my view essential to the success of a 4x4 club.

1) One of these is a strong partnership between the manufacturer and the club management.

2) The other is organising events.

I'm afraid NOROC failed on both accounts.

1) Partnership:
You can blame Nissan SA in part for the partnership part, but only in part.
You also need good management from the club side to further the agenda of the benefits of such a partnership.

What transpired out of the 14 January 2017 meeting was that Nissan SA is only interested in promoting the New Navarra. I can accept that.
Even while Nissan SA do not see the obvious monopoly that Toyota has inherited in the Cruiser 76 being uncontested in the absence of an SFA Patrol, I still saw a future for NOROC if only the management of the committee had the ability to follow through and build on what was discussed on that day in January.
Nothing happened...

I, for one, directly, verbally, and by email subsequent to the meeting virtually pleaded with Glyn to to let me know where I can help. What I can do. I had no response. Nothing, nadda.

So if we want the club to revive, we need to start with Nissan SA.
Else it will be just another Saturday wasted.

2) Events:
Some club members may claim that 2013 and 2014 did have NOROC events. But they were poorly and haphazardly organised. Not a single weekend trip. Only Saturday events. The last weekend trip was in 2012!

Sometimes, in fact often, an email would go out during the same week with the Saturday supposedly being the day of the event. Only to hear on the Thursday that it was cancelled due to "poor interest". Interest would be poor because most people need time to plan their weekends. That is not poor interest at all. That is poor organising.

Look at the events organised on this forum.
They are planned and co-ordinated months ahead of time.
Look at the Baboons pass trip that I am orgainsing. We are about to leave this Thursday morning.
The first post and invite was made on 16 January 2017!
http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/viewtopic.ph ... it=baboons

Same with the River trip of 2015, 2016, 2017,
Same with Rust de Winter 2016 and 2017 (the latter by the way on the same day as proposed for this meeting)
The list goes on.

Therefore given what happened in the past, I do not feel one slight bit guilty of not attending the NOROC events in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Would I support a revival? Yes absolutely.
But then the two points above need to be addressed and assurances given, else it will be a waste of good energy.
And I'm afraid it will be very difficult to regain what is already lost....

From what I've read, the NORC has not functioned for years.

Nissan has no interest in the club.

I would just let the poor thing rest in peace.

definitely no interest from me

Guys ..
Please refrain from the NEGATIVE remarks here .. The idea is to revive the club for NISSAN Owners, not exclusive to Patrol owners but very much INCLUDING Patrol owners, obviously.
If you don't want to participate just say NO.. don't discourage the others who may well want to see the CLUB [for NISSAN 4x4 / Off Road owners]
