Ausies seem to prefer diesel y61's?

Post by graham1 »

Howzit,
In all my internet searches, YouTube watching or Instagram browsing, it seems like the Australians are always in diesel y61 patrols, I hardly ever find content of 4.8 patrols. But then here in SA it seems the 4.8 is the weapon of choice. Why is this? Why does Aus like the diesel and SA the petrol?

I think most guys here would also prefer diesels.

But because Nissan Sa made the strategic decision never to sell the 4.2 with a decent turbo here, and severely messed up with the 3l, and once they had sorted the issues with the engine, they were only available in GL trim level....

In other words, I suspect it has nothing to do with the consumers, and everything to do with the idiots who decide/d which models they wanted to sell locally.
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

As far as I could gather the older 4.2 diesels in Oz have a higher resale value than the later 3.0 diesels. Go figure...

I know the answer!

Speed limits in Australia range from 10 kilometres per hour (6.2 mph) shared zones to 110 kilometres per hour (68 mph).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_limits_in_Australia

Its a Nanny state.
You can't go faster than that.
So no point in having a 4.8! :rolling:

For the "shared zones" (signposted areas where pedestrians and motorised traffic share the same space), you probably need to have the crawler gears installed.
