Re: TD42 Rebuild
Short update, after a few frustrating weeks, I finally ordered most of the parts required for the rebuild this morning at Alert in Port Elizabeth. Still out standing to be ordered is a set of main bearings, Alert does not have in stock, a water pump and a clutch kit.
Just want to say thanks to Michael/Tinus helping out with part numbers on the pistons and sleeves and other helpful hints.

Re: TD42 Rebuild
Time for an update again, the block is at the engineering shop, busy to fit the new sleeves, and as I have the silvertop motor the conrods need to be resized from 28mm to 30mm to accommodate the turbo pistons. This is also in process to be resized. The new precom's is installed and the head is ready to be put together.
The inline fuel pump is in for calibration and bad news come back that it is in a bad state and in need of a full overhaul, need to get more detail on what is all wrong, but at this stage news is it is badly worn out as well as the injectors needs an overhaul.
Just also want to thank Dustin helping out to get the new Clutch kit sorted and couriered from PE to Port Alfred, I owe you one!
On the down side, I have to put the installation of the turbo on hold for a while, main reason is finances as we in the process of buying another property and rebuilding the engine cost is getting high, so need to save up again.
Upside, I'm going to have a brand new TD42 motor that will last for ever.
Will keep you updated on the progress. Excited to drive this beast again! I know it is still a N/A.

Re: TD42 Rebuild
Very nice!! Jy gaan nou n engine he wat n leeftyd gaan hou.

Re: TD42 Rebuild
That TD42 is going to purr like a kitten once it's all done.
On the exhaust, my previous 4.2D had a freeflow setup on it from the previous owner.
If I remember correctly it was 57mm pipe with 1 freeflow box.
It did make a difference to performance over a standard 4.2D...but not as much as a turbo will
Just teasing a bit
Don't stress, the turbo will come in time

Re: TD42 Rebuild
'n 3" pyp sal perfek werk! Die konsep van "te min back pressure" is 'n afskuwelike mite en dit is ons plig om mekaar beter in te lig: "Backpressure caused by the exhaust system (consisting of the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, muffler and connecting pipes) of an automotive four-stroke engine has a negative effect on engine efficiency resulting in a decrease of power output that must be compensated by increasing fuel consumption."

Re: TD42 Rebuild
Jip nes Christo daar se, minder back preasure is beter.
