Rhett wrote:Tinus lotz wrote:The saying goes....never late in the 4.8......

Re: 4.8 fuel consumption
Iesh and 90km/h indicated is closer to 80 in real life. This is a good 40% slower than you go somewhere legally. Why? No excuse unless there were land rovers in the group.Tinus lotz wrote:Life is to short to roll on long road at 90kmh....graham1 wrote:That is VERY good consumption!

Just got back from a nice camping trip with the family at Knysna, towed a large off-road trailer and got 5.77 km/l,(450Km/78L) average speed was about 110 km/H

Re: 4.8 fuel consumption
Does not seem to be a 4.5 specific fuel consumption thread, so will post here:
On my recent trip from Sabie to Pta/JHb and back (returned today):
Got the best consumption ever on this vehicle: 6km/l - Best I ever got.
Only factors I think worth mentioning:
Roof rack was removed.
Dunlop grandtrek mt2's on patrol, 255/85r16, 2.5bar. (previously cooper st maxxs was on this patrol)
I would think that mud terrains in general are heavier on fuel, but maybe the thinner profile and lack of "side/corner threads" on the Dunlops (compared to the coopers), makes it less wind resistant or less rolling resistance(?).. not really sure The Dunlops also got less rubber on the tar than the coopers.
Most travelling speed was closer to 110km/hr, some stretches on N4 was closer to 130km/hr.
Measured the traveled distance on the GPS and compared to the ODO - 10% differenc there.
