Yeah, as Michael said, It is the best thing to do, but due to the head being cast iron and not aluminium, if the funds are tight, and all was working fine before then it won't be an issue if you just put the head straight back on without a skim. Re-seating the valves and new valve stem seals don't compromise the face of the head if done with care

Yes, agree to get it checked out while it is off, was just curious on the skimming part if it is a must when it comes off.Michael wrote:In theory, yes, but it is really recommended to have the head checked out while it is off. As long as there are no scratches when you take it off and clean up the vales etc. then it should be fine. Just check it with a straight edge like this to make sure its still flat.....

Ekt uiteindelik. Spoed gekry om my trol se head af tehaal om te kyk wat aangn. En dis die nagmerry. Nog n wrak in my erf. Head is gekraak op piston 2,3,4 en 5 hiers n foto van piston 4
