Time for an update... I haven't kept this thread up to date over the past few months.

At 245024 km I replaced all the drive train oils. The drained oils were in very good condition. Front diff oil looked brand new. Only the transfer case oil was off-colour slightly. No worrying bits of metal on the drain magnets, only the expected fine 'paste'.
Used EPX90 in both front and rear diffs.
75W90 for the gearbox
DEX III for the transfer case

Fitted dual battery system using a Deltec 105AH and National luna charge controller. I removed all of the small wiring that the previous owner had fitted and ran all the wires in sleeving. Neatened up the wiring generally. Fitted the Dual battery monitor next to the gear lever. Wired a solenoid override switch for winching and starting in case the main battery is dead.

I ran cables to the rear and fitted an old stinger terminal block which allows me to add electrical items in the rear of the car in future. Only the fridge is wired for now, but I will be adding my inverter and some usb and lighter power points when I do the packing system. the displays come on for 15 seconds once it senses power draw. The display can be toggled between Voltage and current draw.

Temporarily mounted the fridge. Its an old one, I know. Its a Minus 20. Its 60L and it works like a bomb. Eventually it will go on a slide, but for now its tied down.

I fitted new manual locking hubs which I got from commercial auto spares in Booysens for around R 1500. They also had the AVM for around R 1100 but these were much better build quality.

I also fitted and wired my LED light bar to the roof rack. I wired it with a switch on the dash and only comes on when I have brights on and activate the light bar switch.

I also fitted my winch. Its a T-max 8500 with a steel winch cable.

A little update....

Fitted some new tyres. Powertrac Pwer rover MT's in 285/75/16. Lusted for Wrangler kevlar MTR's but budget dictated a budget buy. R2350 each, fitted from Autoline in Pretoria. Pretty happy with them so far.

Its a Minus 40 Fridge. I bought it second hand from a caravan shop in Bloem for R1400. :woo: Epic fridge. 60l, with 8cm or so of insulation. Naas Le Roux from Hi-Q Dastek tells me they are highly expensive now,... like R18k expensive :surprised:

yes it is old and ugly :oldtimer: but itworks like a bomb
