Re: My Shortie Thread
Alex, die "steering angles" is sekerlik identies.
The wheelbase of the shorty is roughly 25% shorter than that of the LWB's Thus, the turning circle will also be 25% shorter.
Which is why they are so succesful in challenge-type events.

Re: My Shortie Thread
Okay, so it does not turn sharper, it only feels like it because it is shorter?
The turning circle being longer for longer vehicles, even if the wheels are turned equally.
You see these common facts of physics don't come naturally to me!

Re: My Shortie Thread
Alex dit lyk verby bakgat, seriously seriously jaloers
Wat die interior betref, praat met Ian, hy het daai GQ se binnekant (matte, roof lining, deur panele en sitplekke) alles laat vervang/nuut oorgetrek vir so 7K, ek reken dit is glad nie sleg nie...........

Re: My Shortie Thread
So far Shortie was extremely heavy on fuel.
It seemed to be around 4km per litre before adjusting for tyres. Note that I do not drive cars like I stole them.
So this was worrying.
I found a guy that can do the dyno on carburettors in Boksburg.
He did the dyno today, and commented that the mix was indeed very rich.
In fixing the mix at each rev level, the car also turned out to be much more powerful. And I can feel it. Much more lively.
Below are the results:
Now this is what the web says the TB42 should be doing:
175 PS (129 kW; 173 bhp) @ 4200 rpm
32.6 kg·m (320 N·m; 236 lb·ft) @ 3200 rpm
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_TB_engine
This is a bit more
However, I am not sure at what altitude that was measured. Mine obviously at around 1550 meters (Jhb).
Also, the website is not clear on how the reading between the fuel injection and carburettor models differ.
Be that as it may, I am quite happy with the extra power, and knowing the consumption will definitely improve.
I will keep posted on what consumption will be like after the dyno.

Re: My Shortie Thread - extreme make over
So Shortie had an extreme make over
The panel beating and painting was done by Quantum (Jan Fourie)
The guy is a perfection nist. So if you want this done, you have to be patient. But patience pays of. Also notice the rims!

Only problem is, I don't want to go into the bush with it!
