If you're reading this and you've got a NA TD42, I can not begin to tell you how good it is to have a turbo !
I've only done a rough tune so far and there's at least 50% more power.
The kW's are good, but it's the Nm of pulling power that is amazing.
On long steep hills where I used to have to row down the gears and scream up the hill slowly, now I'm in 5th gear and the engine is just humming away like it feels nothing.

I'm only running 0.8bar boost and I'm over the moon !
I can only imagine what it must be like to drive the 1bar & plus monsters !

All those long hours, sweat, blood, frustration and grief from the family is ALL worth it when you drive your turbo Patrol !!!

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DRIVE NATURALLY ASPIRATED ! :blonde:
Start planning your conversion NOW !

I'm just waiting for the hood scoop now and I'll be all done with the conversion.
I'll start getting all the parts and pricing together for my report for those who are planning something similar :salute:

Thanks Cedric

Long hours of hard graft all pay off in the end.

I think the doughnut will be far better with a new clutch installed :rolling:

So here's the costing of the build, not taking into account the time I spent.
The time the experts spend doing the work is where the big cost lays, but I still think they sell themselves short, because it's a LOT of work and fiddling.
All that said, when I hear the whoosh of the turbo and I get pushed into my seat when I drive my Patrol...it's so worth it !

I hope this helps those reading that are wanting to put a turbo on to their donkey diesels

Dustin, I am glad you kept record of exactly how much everything cost, it really helps others to know what they are getting themselves into. For me its a no brainer and I think anyone experiencing the turbo vs NA will agree.

The fact that you got a good deal on the turbo an manifold helped quite a bit with the cost and not mentioning the labor that was free
Also doing something like this yourself makes it even more special.

You are right about the hours.....it is allot of work and you actually cannot charge for all the hours as the client might get a heart attack.
How many hours do you think you put into this conversion?
