Who is using Ironman suspension kits?
Howzit guys,
Apologies if this has been discussed before, I had a quick look but didn't see anything. I popped in to a place in Hilfox centre, the guy gave me what seems to be a pretty reasonable quote on a 2inch kit, including steering damper and bushes. So, before I pull the trigger, any comments on the ironman kit?

Re: Whose using Ironman suspension kits?
I don't know the Iron Man kit, but it is a decent brand name so I would assume that it is a decent product. I have OME in mine and would guess that they are on par with each other.

I use Ironman. Very, very happy with mine. Anything specific you wanted to know ?
Please make sure to install the rear swaybar link extensions, otherwise the links may break.

No, I didnt want to know anything specific, just checking that there's no horror stories out there, I doubt there would be though.
This is the first Ive heard about swaybar link issues though? This doesnt sound good. Is this an Ironman specific thing, or just in general when aftermarket suspension is installed?
Thanks.
Cheers!

Re: Whose using Ironman suspension kits?
Sway bar link ALWAYS need to be replaced with extended ones if you lift the vehicle. Simple as that. The fact that so many South African suspension "specialists" sell kits without this item , blows my mind.
You can run a patrol without a front sway bar at all though. i've done this for years with no worries at all.
It also blows my mind that they dont sell extended Bump-stops either. or know anything about them.
Just my 2c.

Flip, so nothing is ever simple when it comes to modifications hey!
Where can I find these link extensions then? Or do they have to be Ironman Specific?
Just to make sure, we're not talking about caster correction bushes hey?

Re: Whose using Ironman suspension kits?
They do not have to be Ironman specific. Chat with Graham Cumming / G-Tech (Pathmaker on the forum). He did mine. Recall it being relatively cheap as well.

Ah, ok, well that sounds easy then.iandvl wrote:They do not have to be Ironman specific. Chat with Graham Cumming / G-Tech (Pathmaker on the forum). He did mine. Recall it being relatively cheap as well.
I will be getting this kit fitted and then I need to send the vehicle in to Graham after that anyway as it sounds like theres a very noisy wheel bearing that needs sorting.
Thanks for the advice!

Re: Whose using Ironman suspension kits?
And here the suspension debate starts............... I will make the popcorn so long
First question - Are you going to be lifting the vehicle and if so how much?
Second question - Do you have or will you be fitting a steel bullbar and/or winch to the front?
Third question - Do you carry a lot of weight in the back and/or tow?
Fourth question - Is articulation or load carrying ability more important to you? Unfortunately the on is a tradeoff of the other.
There are 4 main options available in SA all with pro's and con's and price variances.
OME - Graham can get and fit
Ironman - Graham can get and fit
Terrain Tamer - Marinos can get and Graham can fit
Dobinsons - Dawid has and Graham can fit
Tough Dog - No one has used this yet but I like the idea of the adjustability.
There are others that will remain unnamed but do not even think about it.
