EGT
Hi all. I am hoping someone can shed some light on this.
I have not used my Patrol for a couple of months and yesterday I took it out for a spin. I immediately noticed that the EGT's went up very slowly and never went passed 250 C. even when doing 120Ks an hour. They also moved down very slowly too. I dont think there is anybody here in Hibberdene to help me and am hoping I wont have to take the Patrol to Durban to sort it out. Its a 2005 3.0l and the madman was installed over a year ago.
Many thanks.

Re: EGT
Hi Tinus and Michael. The trucks performance has not changed at all so I suspect it is directly related to the EGT. I had always watched the temperature like a hawk and never noticed anything change except for now, a drastic difference.

Re: EGT
Bad earth or corroded connectors between madman and thermal probe wire but shouldn't be constant if faulty????

Re: EGT
Hi Christo. The probe is before the turbo, I think between 2 and 3 cylinders. It always moved very rapidly up and down and I was able once to get it just below 600c going flat out up a hill. However, I cant compare apples with apples as I have never watched the temperature changes on another Patrol. Perhaps I can get feedback here as to how rapidly the temperature should change. With mine, if you traveled at a constant speed, say about 80, and then suddenly accelerated, the temp used to move up at an alarming rate until it reached the high 400 c and then would slow down and slowly creep up to the mid 500c. Would that be normal?

Re: EGT
Sounds like a faulty probe or something related to a wrong reading. If those temps ypu are getting were correct your Patrol would be very very slow and I dont even think it would get to 120km/h.
EGT's fluctuate quite a bit and responds to the amount of fuel you give the engine. Coasting at 120km/h you can expect to see 370 to 450 degrees or more depending and the gradiant of the road.
