Ignition live and battery live wires
I want to install an ignition signal cable to the battery box and I need to run some mods of an ignition live wire.
I also want a battery live wire.
Is there a colour wire i need to hunt down? And where can I get it in the rear area?

Re: Ignition live and battery live wires
You can get ignition live from socket at the rear ....just explain what you are trying to achieve? Battery live is mos there already from alternator to battery box?

Re: Ignition live and battery live wires
Battery box has a signal wire for the ignition. It stops drawing from the starter battery when the ignition is off. It currently works on the voltage cut-off.Tinus lotz wrote:You can get ignition live from socket at the rear ....just explain what you are trying to achieve? I was hoping there would be something on the drivers side I could tap off... I am not a good draad trekker

Re: Ignition live and battery live wires
I don't think there will be many live wires in the back of the truck.
The only "ignition-live" wire I can think of, would be the fuel pump wire. But I'd be very careful putting anything on that.
I don't think there will be any battery live wires (well, there shouldn't be). The brake lights are always "live", but they'll only be carrying current when you step on the bake pedal. So they sort of don't mean much.
I'd honestly suggest running a pair of wires (one for battery live, one for ignition live) from the front. Please fuse as close to the front-end termination point as possible. And also properly clad them (the plastic cladding you can get at any spares shop).
Just my thoughts.

Re: Ignition live and battery live wires
My research on the aussie forums indicates that the best wire for ignition in the engine bay is a blue wire to the window wipers. I cannot see if that applies to the rear window wiper.
Battery live I can always tap of the 10mm to the battery box.

Steve under both front seats are permanent live wires for seat operation ....try tapping in there as it is already fused and then run next to door frames

Heh. I didn't think of this at all. You're right - the seats do work even with ignition off...Wilkie wrote:Steve under both front seats are permanent live wires for seat operation ....try tapping in there as it is already fused and then run next to door frames
Thanks - now I also know...

Do you recall offhand what wire? I have looked under there... but there are two looms and I know one is connected to a pound of C4 in the airbags
