I got a 4.8!
Hi guys,
So I finally managed to scratch the itch and got myself a 4.8.
It was quite sad to let go of the old GQ, she was a good old girl, but I think she was just a little bit too old for me - I stress BIG time when it comes to cars, always thinking somethings going to break on me.
Tinus managed to help me find this one, so a big thank you to Tinus for helping me through the whole process!
The vehicle is a 2004 with 220 000kms on. It looks like it has had a very good life, the previous owner owned her since 15 000kms, so its near as dammit a one owner vehicle. All the paperwork and notes that came with it show that the maintenance was really taken seriously as well.
It also came with alot of really nice extras - I think I might need someone to give me a quick crash course in winch operation, ive never had a winch before.
Ive only done 100 kms with it so far, but, first impressions so far:
- I cant believe how quiet it is on the open road - I actually thought that I was getting sick and my ears were blocked! Its absolutely silent.
- To be perfectly honest, I expected more power, its obviously alot more powerful than the old donkey GQ, but, its still a little on the lazy side I think. I had a hilux 4.0l v6 a couple years back, I was expecting power delivery more like that, but anyway. I definitely wont say its dissapointing because its not, but its not what I expected.
What is the long beep for when I turn the ignition on, just before I start it? Its almost as if it beeps until the fuel gauge reaches its position - is it fuel gauge related?
Anyway, Im very very happy with it. Yesterday I got home from work and moved it from one side of the driveway to the other - I told the wife I had to cos it was in the way where it was, but I actually just wanted to sit in it and start it
