Re: My Shortie Thread
Okay, so getting the engine in good working order is taking some work
The engine was running on only 5 cylinders. No 6 missed, but only due to the valve.
1) The engine most likely must have overheated a few times in the past as the valve springs need to be replaced
2) The Head is getting serviced (skimmed)
3) Carburettor getting reconned
4) Lots of pipes being replaced
5) And I need to find a thermostat housing.
The car will be out of action at least until end of next week - depending on when parts arrive back from recon / service.
So not a cheap exercise to get her up and running again.
And while out of action, I miss her already....

Re: My Shortie Thread
Alex, great news on the valve actually. It could have been way worse.
Just a suggestion if I may, the head service is quite important on any vehicle, especially one with high mileage. It is usually advisable to have the engineers check the valve guides and make sure they are still in spec, new valve stem seals is a must and obviously, the valves and guides must be cut on the correct angle to make it seat properly.

Weet iemand wat is die gewig van 'n shortie versus long wheel basis?
