New Patrol vs Landcruiser

Post by Rhett »

So I know we won't be getting the new Patrol here (probably) but I really like them after seeing this:

Would like to see some proper off-road kit on them now.

I had a "chat" to some Russian dude on facebook (on some patrol group)... they only got the y62 available to them, for few years now. (y61 been discontinued/unavailable for 10 years over there...)

You guys think the new Patrol will be able to hold up against the old ones?
Reason I'm asking is, Old ones have Solid Axles with coils which is way better than the independent suspension
when it comes to heavy off-roading.

I think only in really extreme scenarios will the sold axles prove its metal against the Y62.
Many IFS will break before then, but I am sure the Y62 is built for very tough conditions. So they are not all the same.

Would love to see what the Y62 would do on Baboons (with a 2" lift - just for fair sportsmanship).
Many solid axles have broken on that trail.
