Josh..... an update on that black Patrol. Difflock doesn't engage. Rhett and I had a look at it on Friday afternoon. The dude says it is going into Spencers Gearbox to sort it out. They will get back to me on Monday afternoon sometime. I'll let you know as soon as I know

As you sure it is not just the indicator switch that is sticky? Light keeps flashing on the dash.
That Patrol does not look like one that was used for serious off-roading in the past.
So the diff lock is likely seldom been used. The indicator switch is typically the first thing to start failing if not used much.

Alex, we did drive back and forth a bit and I'm fairly certain the solenoid is stuck. It was on paving, and we heard no tyre screech. We should have checked the vacuum pipes on the solenoid, in hindsight  I'm sure the actual diff-lock is still fine, as you say, the car hasn't seen much off-roading.

Cedric, Thank you VERY much for your efforts. Sorry I am just getting back to you at this late stage. been going a bit hectic. Sounds like it has a few isseus.
I have commited to the 4.2 SGL petrol of Abri.

maybe I can somme use the oppertunity to awnser a couple of quistions.
- No I am not looking for a second Patrol, although I would not mind owning a few.
- No I am not looking for a petrol to drive dunes. my diesel does just fine at half the feul consumption.... besides, nothing smells as good as diesel in the mornings....
- cost is the reason why I am looking at an alternative Patrol. It looks like we might move to Namibia as a family on a more permanent basis if all goes well. importing my Patrol is just not making sense if I crunch numbers. add this to other expenses and difficult choices it just isnt worth trying to keep it. so yes, my Patrol will be in the market end of february towards march. if the current prospective buyer doesnt commit.
- why Petrol. as die hard a diesel fan as I am, it is always a huge risk bying an old diesel, aspecially if you do not know the history. concidering the current import info I have, i have to buy as cheap as possible so that the import costs dont kill me. or alternitively buy a Patrol here. there in lies two problems. 1. they are very expensive here. any 4x4 for that matter. 2. i have not seen one advertized in a news paper, magazine or website, although they are many. I pass other Patrols everyday. all kinds.

so that is ma story. a sad one when it comes to my beloved Patrol. but there is a wonderfully exiting other side to ma story as well.
Being alive is a Blessing!!

Regards,
Joshua

Nice looking Patrol

Sorry but I was in my Landrover

Does it have a Patrol Forum sticker at the bottom left?
It looks like it. IF that is the case, I am pretty sure the owner was at the NOROC special meeting.
I did not get his name though.

I just fetched a new set of glasses from the optometrist.... so I might have an advantage.

I think what you see on the bottom left is .... GRX 4x4.

And I think.... there was only one silver Patrol at the NOROC meeting and that one had its Forum-sticker in the middle of the spare wheel cover.
