I just received confirmation: I am the proud new owner of this Patrol!!!
Plan is to fly down next weekend to fetch it, after Frans has given it a thorough service.
Thanks Tinus vir die raad oor die ou koolstoof

Re: Nissan Patrol GU 4.2D
That is a good car and a good buy. Congratulations.
oooh, I know not all agree on this forum but.....
I would not tinker with a hair dryer.
More heat means shorter life - finish and klaar.
If you want an overlander that will drink all kinds of dirty oil mixes, and still keeps on going for many years to come, keep it like it is. (just add the necessary filters).
Once you are off the beaten track, the turbo will not help that much when you are in a hurry anyhow.

Re: Nissan Patrol GU 4.2D
Congrats Christoph! You baught a bargain.
Alex, I had the privalage of having built a couple of TD42's and also having installed a Madman on all of them.
The last one I built was a NA TD42 and believe it or not the EGT's rin higher than on the turbo engines.
But I have actually started getting a soft spot for the NA TD42's and Christoph you are really going to love this one

Re: Nissan Patrol GU 4.2D
Indeed - to fix high EGTs you either decrease the fueling or crank the boost upMichael wrote:The last one I built was a NA TD42 and believe it or not the EGT's rin higher than on the turbo engines.
