There is a lot of chatter happening on this topic !! This is GREAT news !!.... Lets do this and formulate a plan to get the club back to how it should be... its for you and me.

All I ask though is please get your voices to this meeting on the 14th Jan..... Even if you don't want to join the club !!! the Club needs YOUR voice to guide it into the direction that it needs to be. We are a country that is and has evolved..... my donder, then so can our Club. With out your input it cannot be a force to be reckoned with to Nissan SA.

Please add your name to the list !! I want to see at least 150 people at this meeting, cause then maybe we can get Nissan to listen !!!!!!.... Wow... that should be our slogan..... :rolling: :rolling: ....Nissan to Listen !!!
Regards
Cedric

A club is what you make it. There is no point 600 people pitching up and having opinions, and then at the end it's the same six guys doing all the work, because then nothing's going to change.

If you want to have a say in what the club does, join it, partake in the activities, find places to help. If you show willing, you will soon be elected and have the opportunity to start constructively shaping the club's activities and future.

The only way the club can grow is if the committee who has to do all the work can grow. Not only in numbers, but also in interests and outlook (no offence meant to any of the current members). There just isn't enough manpower and circulation of fresh ideas if year after year the same few guys make up the committee.

And because i am at this stage in a position where i can't justify the type.of commitment needed, i will not be there, because i feel it is unreasonable for me to go there, demand or ask for changes and then not beeing prepared to put in the effort to make those changes happen.

:mytwocents:
Peter, you are spot on, however... the club still needs YOU !! I have only done 2 events this year and I think 3 last year due to time commitments and also financial restraints after building work at my place..... but like I said before I have a soft spot for the club and want to have a little "klap" with Nissan SA by means of the Nissan Club, and I believe that YOUR opinion and everyone who feels like you, need to come through for this meeting. You don"t have to become a committee member, or even join or rejoin the club, but your input and the likes of EVERYONE is most definitively needed. I'm sure that if guys see that the Nissan Club is benefiting the members then to join the club and get VALUE out of the club, then I'm pretty sure the membership growth will climb !!

BTW... Peter, not gunning you ( in case it comes across like that ), and thanks for saying what you did !!  ....... so can I put your name on the list?????

Yeah with a lot people it will need to be run properly and in an orderly fashion..... I mean after all, we are upstanding respectable people and I believe that there may be a few issues discussed that may get people excited but I don't believe that anything will go pear shaped, as this is something that can benefit ALL of us

Yes indeed, the discussion on the topic is very healthy and in addition I also had a number of very enlightening phone calls. Looking forward to this session and the constructive and positive change it will bring along.

Cedric

Like you I have soft spot for NORC. This is where my interest in 4x4 started.
I will make every effort to be there on 14 Jan. I could not attend the year-end gathering due to other personal commitments.

I would like to sow a seed which I hope will come through at the 14 Jan meeting (Note, I really do not want to offend anyone in saying this, but it needs to be considered)

I think we have to accept the fact that people (even Nissan 4x4 drivers) are not necessarily all "like-minded" people.
And I do not think it is fair to expect from NORC to be everything to everyone.

E.g.
Some like more aggressive trails (and see how far they can push their vehicles up to a "reasonable" degree of risk), others don't.
Some prefer the weekend away trips, while others only wish to attend day trips on weekends.
Some want training or guidance, others don't.
Some want to do Bridgestone, other don't (and some are not allowed due to engine conversions!)

any given NORC event cannot attend to everyone's preferences.

I think it needs to start with what NORC wants to be for its members (because it cannot be everything to everyone).
Then we can consider what that means practically and people can decide if it is for them or not.

How to do that: As prep for 14 Jan, can I suggest the following:
Draft a questionnaire in which attendees can write what they like and want in the context of 4x4 from a collective such as a club.
Then the committee can draw common themes from it and decide what they can do (if they want to of course) for its members.

Since you see and recognise the merits of the club, can you draw a list of the merits of being a member? This can then help shape what the questionnaire should look like.

P.S. I do not suggest that I only have comments and do not want to help (back seat driver).
I am more than willing to help in putting such a questionnaire together.
But I will need help from others, at least in the idea generating stage (read "merits in a club").

Alex and Cedric are both spot-on. Let's keep the club going and give our inputs at the meeting. It will make a difference.
