Re: DIY DRAWER SYSTEM
I like that idea, and that is something I will have to think about.Mini Patrol wrote:I really like the way it is not over complicated.
One suggestion is to cut a trapdoor under the bottom drawer so that you do not need to remove the system if you need to get to the fuel pump.
Thanks for the photo's Herrie, that stuff also looks sturdy. I would like to see the aircraft flooring on Sunday.

Re: DIY DRAWER SYSTEM
Haha no problem!
I will put together a material list with estimated pricing.
Ps. I was at the Getaway show last Saturday, and the pricing of drawers (albeit very nice looking ones) easily clock the R10k mark!

Re: DIY DRAWER SYSTEM
OK here is a material list: (hope I got everything)
1 x sheet Reynobond ACM 3050mm x 1250mm - R 900
200 x white rivets (can get silver much cheaper) - R 100
1 x sheet ABS 3mm 2500mm x 1250mm - R 540
3 x sets slides 700mm - R 990
3m x 30mm x 5mm m/steel flatbar - R 100
15m x 25mm² m/steel tube - R 200
6m x 25mm² x 3mm aluminium angle - R 220
6m x 25mm² x 1.5mm aluminium angle - R 120
8 x brace piece Connect-It's - R 70
2m x self-adhesive foam strip - R 20
2 x tins Hammerite - R 260
Grinding discs, hacksaw blades, self-tappers, bits and pieces - R 120
Bolt locks - R 60
Total - ±R 3700
This is a close estimate, and if I shopped around I could have saved R500 on the whole job. Also, quite a few items were packed in corners of the workshop so my actual total cost was slightly cheaper. Time in total took around 80 hours. Sitting and designing the thing took probably just as long

Re: DIY DRAWER SYSTEM
Hi all
Well, I would consider this project complete. I have minor things to do, carpet / rubberize the drawers inside, and fix a few more anchor points for bungee cords. But the final stages were as follows:
Top drawer complete and handles and drawer locks in...
Happy with the accessibility...
Three extra plug points - 2 of them run off the secondary battery, and the third is connected to a power supply. So at a campsite with 220v, I can run a fridge or lighting off that socket...
This is how I mounted it: And that is all. I attribute this effort to hard work, hard whiskey, and a hard wife:
