Eintlik is dit die Tierod wat die twee wiele koppel. Die draglink loop tussen die steering boks en passasiers hub, en moet kan verstel na 'n lift, oor dat die distansie langer word.

Wag, die een wys beter hoe die Patrol werk met die Draglink wat koppel op die Tie rod.

My gevoel is wel, dat teen die tyd wat jy adjustable draglink nodig het, is dit miskien tyd om te kyk na Highsteer pitman. Dit gaan beter hoek gee tussen steering boks en hub en van baie bump steer ontslae raak. Jy gaan wel seker nog adjustable draglink nodig hê.

Bump steer from both wheels moving in the same direction up or down will not be much of a problem as long as the panhard and draglink runs parallel and are of similar length. Thus any movement of the diff left -right and vice versa when hitting a bump will be compensated for as the relative movement of the diff to steering box is 0. however if you change the length of the panhard or the body /diff attachment point to improve the angle after the lift then you will need to apply similar change on your steering box/ pitman arm.

Unlike independent suspension , on a solid axle the one wheel will never move up and down and change angle relative to the other wheel.

I guess the adjustable drag link address the problem that the driver feels that the car turns faster to the one side than the other as the pitman arm is not straight ahead when wheels are straight.

Just to prevent any uncertainty, these will fit either Y60 or Y61 coil-sprung models, but not leaf-spring models.

David's comment and pictures only apply to leaf-spring models.

Andries, you would be correct if the panhard rod and drag link were of exactly equil lengths and ran at exactly the same angle, but this is unfortunately not the case. Thus a lift does affect bump-steer.

As far as i am concerned, the primary reason to fit this is not because it is adjustable, because adjusting it doesn't really help much except to correct steering wheel angle more easily.

The real advantage is that one can then replace tie rod ends at pirate prices (currently about R650) instead of having to replace the whole thing at Nissan's several grand...

Please put me down for one adjustable drag link if you are making more than five. My Patrol should be getting its 50mm lift in December 2016 and it would be ideal to fit the link at the same time.

Yes Peter, You are right, most my comment pertains to leaf sprung, sorry for creating confusion on your thread.

I actually meant to correct the reference and confusion between the draglink and tierod, and there I started rambling about my leaf sprung setup.
