ok, ek sien.

315/75/16....... 34" sal perfek werk in my opinie. Baie se 35" is te groot en ek dink 33" is net te klein
As ek kyk hoe klein 33" bande op my 4.5 lyk, wat (ek dink) 3 duim gelig is, begin ek te dink hierdie groote kan miskien n opsie wees.
Van die fabrikate se 315/75r16's is eintlik nader aan 34.5 "
Maar einde van die dag sal die prys seker die "deal breaker" wees....

Hankook MT's available at R 3 735 on special from Errols at the moment. Most others run between R 5 and 6.5 k.

Minimum rim width 8J so will not work on your bakkie Fanus.

Would love to go this size but I think the gearing will become hard to live with.

Yip, I think they ship free to there approved installers close to you, where you then "hoes" for the fit and balance.

But this is a very interesting thread, thanks for posting it.

I actually think the gearing will work better on a turbo'd TD42..... I constantly feel like I need a 6th gear and as Fanus mentioned, most of them are closer to a 34.5". I would love to test a set for a week and feel what the difference is.

Tire height 265 X 70 X 16 = 777.4 mm
285 X 75 X 16 = 833.9 mm
315 X 75 X 16 = 878.9 mm
Difference from stock to 315's = 101.5 mm and 13, 06%. This is effectively giving you 50 mm more ground clearance which is great.

But here comes the kicker............

Tire circumference 265 X 70 X16 = 2 442.27 mm
285 X 75 X 16 = 2 619.77 mm
315 X 75 X16 = 2 761.15 mm
Difference from stock to 315's = 318. 88 mm and 13.06 %

The difference between the stock 265's and the 285's is 7.27 %.

I think that your hairdryer is going to be doing a bit of overtime with the 315's at low revs.

I think Tony's 4.8 has 315's on so maybe we need to feed him beers one day while we quickly borrow his wheels and tyres for a test but am not sure of the profile as his are on 17".

The other thing with the 315's is that fuel consumption is guaranteed to head in the wrong direction by quite a bit.
