Y61 GU adjustable drag link wanted

Post by NMAD »

Looking for an adjustable drag link GU/Y61 if any one knows where I can buy one?
OEM Nissan drag link is not adjustable so my steering wheel is a ball hair out but will be perfect if I had an adjustable drag link to set it.
Thanks

Just replaced mine but could not get the adjustable one even from Nissan Japan. Have kept my old adjustable one to see if I can have rebuilt.

Adjustable drag link = R5000.00 (wild guesstimate)
Remove steering wheel & replace in straight-ahead position = R0.00

Really easy to do, plus you can sit down and listen to music while you work, you won't get cold or wet, etc. etc. etc.

There, phixed!

Christo, the only problem with removing and turning the steering wheel is that you will end up turning sharper to one side than the other.......

It will not have a great effect if tou turn it with one or two spliance, but I did this excersize on a Ranger a couple of years back and took a while for me to realise why I could turn shaper to one side.

If you do decide to remove the steering be very careful of the airbag procedure or kaboom,,,,,,

I made an adjustable drag link for mine a couple of years ago. I think the whole exercise cost less than R2k, including the tie rod ends.

I will see if I can scratch out the drawings and get you a quote on the machining, if you can wait a week or so?

I had the same quality concerns using pirate tie rod ends.
What I did was purchase an original Nissan tie rod complete with tie Rod ends and had the rod shortened and a new thread mavhined to match thr drag link length. The damper mounting bracket cannot be welded to the new rod as it is now adjustable so I had a swivel mounting bracket made. Thr Rod was knurled in the correct position and the mounting assembly is then located after steering adjustments in the correct position by four grub screws.....hope I have explained this correctly!! Total cost was less than 3k
Will attach a few photos.

I concur. I however still have my old draglink so want to see if I can find decent ball joints as that is all it needs. Will then go back to the adjustable one and keep the non adjustable one as the spare.
