Howzit wilkie, i am not sure yet. The brakes is very poor. So I'll have to go through the system and see whats up. I was asking cause I might end up needing spares for the booster and wanted to know if spares are availible. Do you have a spare booster?Wilkie wrote:Josh are you looking for booster or master cylinder spares..?

Re: 1988 Safari 2.8 petrol
So I had some time to fiddle with the safari. It does have a 38 weber. So now I must just find a service kit for it and also what jets sizes are correct for it. The plugs are also wrong.....
It seems like the choke works on water temp. Is that correct? I also need a new carb foot piece. The current one is cracked.

Re: 1988 Safari 2.8 petrol

Re: 1988 Safari 2.8 petrol
Hi Matt. Thanx for your reply. I got a nice sorted 38 weber carb from Boogyman. And a couple of pointers. I also got an adapter plate from Dawid. So it seems I am sorted. I will keep you posted.

Josh .. hallo. I THINK they are still there .. not too sure but in Pretoria Church Street, next toe the "Lion Bridge" is/was a Carburator dealer. They specialise in WEBER .. but I got THOR's refurbish kit for the NIKKI Carb from them .. and not expensive either. [THOR being a 4,2 Petrol Patrol]
LOBO was converted to fuel injection way back .. the Weber got me stuck on a steep incline with the float chamber running empty

Re: 1988 Safari 2.8 petrol
So I serviced the carb with a kit. Chuck the ford air filter pan and installed n small pancake filter. Cleaned the plugs. Adjusted the gaps. Checked the oil. Found the dipstick telling me that theres almost double the amount of oil needed in there .
Drained it off in increments to the correct level. I reconed thats where the exhaust smoke came from at high revs. Topped up the brake fluid. After all was done I took it for a spin. It pulls beter and refs more smoothly, but not there yet. Got her up to 5500rpm in fourth gear. Dont trust the speedo yet.
Smoke seems to be gone after a long hard drive. But then....... I experienced the death wabble on braking. I thought ahh hell now Im gone. Totally out of control. I went off the road and just let it be.....
Eventually it stopped. Phew scary. Ha ha ha. So that needs sorting. Any tips on where to look first will be apreciated. There is also a noise comming from the rear. Not a grinding noise but more like something rubbing. And gearbox wines. So any recommendations on that will also be apreciated
