It is duly noted that the Cruiser guys are having a family weekend and the Patrol guys are having a boys weekend.

I have been hesitant on this one.
Not sure the puritans will let me in with a Toyota engine on this event....

Yes, but this whole ZD30 thing made me feel so alien again
I will be there. Cannot promise the family to come along too yet.

Alex, I guess everyone has a right to their opinion. All I ask is that you respect the fact that others on this forum still happely drive their ZD30's. Just as you would still like to be respected for driving your Patrol as it is now.
Its not nice to hear every other day how crap your Patrol is, and that on a Patrol forum.......
I apologise if I came down hard on you.
Being alive is a Blessing!!

Joshua

Hi Josh
Being critical and frank about an engine does not imply disrespect to anyone.
But if that meant I offended anyone, by all means I did not mean to.
In any event there are desperately few active members with Zd30 engines on this forum, and they are the only ones that can claim to have taken offence.
I can think of only Greg Justice (Juice) and Stefan.
(There is also 'Grootseun', but has has not been on this forum for years)
There used to be quite a few though, besides myself, there was Oom Mac, JG Shields, Dave Faddel, Tony Barone, Pieter du Toit... These are just the ones I know of.
When Michael says he does not think the ZD30's bad name is justified, I think it is because the engine can be made reliable with a few fairly simple mods, such as a larger intercooler (Grootseun's mod), and having installed an EGT at an early stage, prior to having accumulated damage. But without these mods, the statistics I'm afraid speak for themselves.

As far as I'm aware, Grootseun sold his Patrol.
