Re: Swazi trip = Moegatle !!!!!
Het errens gelees hulle praat van "god se pad" by moegatle. Is dit dieselfde obstacle as "koos se klim" - het naam net verander?

This is "God se Pad"
It is also about 45 deg, but shorter and narrower.
When we go again we can probably ask Alex to take us there as well.
I suspect we were too slow last week to fit this in too.
I have not driven it, and in three trips over the past four years, Alex have not taken us there. I suspect you only get this on special request!
There is one early episode of Andre De Villiers Safari roetes some years back that featured "God se Pad" (around 2008).
I have been trying to find it on Youtube, but only the later episodes seem to be available.
He also drove Klipdrif, when the obstacle was still more doable than it is today. But according to Alex he only managed on his third attempt, and with front lockers on. But make no mistake he is a very good driver.
That episode I recall turned out to be controversial, as he showed one vehicle falling over coming down at this obstacle, and another failing at Koos se Klim too, while another (a LC70 that Toyota sponsored him at the time) doing the obstacle just fine, and no explanation what the first driver did wrong.
It certainly had the Landy lovers unhappy:

Re: Swazi trip = Moegatle !!!!!
Looking at the controlled way the hilux was able to come back down, this obstacle is not nearly as steep as Koos.
Their brakes are even worse than ours.

Re: Swazi trip = Moegatle !!!!!
Yeah... I enjoy Moegatle !!
But after a little tinkering with the turbo ( I had a few bolts that were not doing the things they needed to do ), and borrowing Juices boost gauge I set up my turbo on 0.8 bar boost, and ....... WOW..... what a difference !!!!
My turbo has clearly been leaking for a little while now. My black smoke is almost minimal now, and the Iron Maiden hops into action like never before. I also got 12.6L/100km loaded to Ponto, doing 120Km/h most of the way.

In 2014, you, Juice, Thabbies and myself drove up Koos. I cannot recall who else.
Would you do it again though?
I could not lift my front quite as high at Ryperd as before, but I got stuck proper to make up for it, and needed lots of

Hmmmmm.... yeah I don't recall now off hand, but I think Rod C also went up.
Will I go up again..... yeah, but I wouldn't do it without Alex ( guide ) in the Patrol with me. I would rather be a live coward than a dead hero.......
And besides, if something did go wrong, and I survived, my wife will blikesem me till I die.....

Rod C & Grootseun went up in 2012.ricster wrote:Hmmmmm.... yeah I don't recall now off hand, but I think Rod C also went up.
As fluke would have it, I bumped into Rod and his wife in Emmarentia park last week. We were both taking our dogs for some leg stretching.
He is getting is GQ ready for the CKGR later this year.
He was tempted to join us on the river trip lastyear, so I encouraged him to perhaps do it this year as we are having a repeat.
