Hi Petri,

Dit maak my hart bly dat jy kyk na n 3.0liter. . Ek is so happy dat ek binne kort n 3.0CRD bakkie wil koop.

3 duim regdeur. My syfers was as volg.

My Egt tempratuur is laer as toe hy standaard was. So 120km/h is n given. Baie beter as n Navara bv. Bietjie slegter as n VX prado 150. My vrou ry hom elke dag. My kar is 300kg swaarder as syne. Teen verskillende refs. So ja sleep behoort geen probleem te wees. Om dit vir jou in n ander perspektief te sit...... op n highway hou n std hilux en fortuner nie by my by nie. Neem ook in ag dat my kar n ton plus swaarder is as n hilux. My kar weeg in op n skaal teen 2.8ton. So jy hy boks ini heavy weight katogorie

Hoop al die info help. O ja........ krag en looks soek feul. Toe hy nog OE was het hy my maklik oor die 9km/l gegee. On geag hoe hard ek hom ry of van vrag of van toestande hy sal altyd meer ekonomies bly as n 4.8.

I spoke to the owner of a 3.0 a while back and he was very happy with it and said it had loads of poke.

We did a Namib toure, pre dastec chip, only intercoolerfan, 33 inch muds. 2 adults, 3 highs school kids. Kar packed to the brim, venter bushbaby packed to the brim. I managed 120km/h no problems.

I can do the same towing the 1500kg Xplorer... but the moment I hit a pass I am doing 50 with big trucks passing.

Towing a 1500kg caravan with a 3000kg vehicle must do that to you

Due to the weight of a kitted patrol. I will not follow this route. The 1000kg between a avarage 4x4 and a patrol makes up for most of the weight of the caravan itself. Thats why they tend to tow better with the big riggs. Weight is a killer. So whether its a cruiser or a patrol. If you hook a 1500kg+ rigg. You are going to feel it.
I dont know how the ausies tow there 2.5ton riggs with such feggure  . They must have a trick. I however would like to one day hook up n big offroad caravan behind my 3.0 just to see how it copes.

Josh - EXTREMELY helpful info, thanks. I thought that it "must" be the CRDi engine because it's a 2012 model. Will now make very sure, will get a pic of the engine bay and post it

Guude
I bought my patrol especially for trailer towing. I have a special 3.5 ton trailer for transporting timber to my sites. The best point is that the patrol is heavy so the trailer doesn't swing the car while driving. May some of you know windhoek and how much hills we have here,I have never had any problems getting the trailer to my sites. The patrol got now 52k on 1/3 of this is towing. We always manage 100 kmh fully loaded. Up hill around 70-80 kmh. This means 1 ton on the back and 3.5 trailer. Empty trailer is around 1 ton and we driving normal speed till 140 kmh. The only mods I have done are the exhaust. I'm very happy with the patrol,it's a real working car. I will have a look for some pics of the patrol fully loaded
Greetings

Quick question please.
The owner says that he thinks the engine is a ZD30DDTi, 118 Kw and 380 nM........it's a 2012 model. Does this sound like the CRD engine??

He'll post pics of the engine bay tonight.

Thanks
