TB42 front crankseal

Post by EdwardWT »

Hi everyone, I am busy replacing the front cranseal ony 4.2 petrol engine as it is leaking oil. Now that I have removed the old seal and want to put the new one back in, I was just wondering if there should be a metal thing around the crank to deflect most of the oil away from the seal. Somethimg like an oil thrower of sorts. Can anyone tell me if these engines have it or not as mine doesnt have it and I think it should.

Hi Edward, there is no oil thrust washer or such a thing but you have to make sure that the new seal is a directional seal.....very important !!!!!
happy new year

Thanks a lot Errol, I appreciate your reply, the seal I bought is a genuine nissan part so it should be right. Happy new year to you too and to all reading this. May you all be blessed in abundance during the coming year.
